Brush
regularly: Develop the habit of brushing regularly. Using a soft tooth brush
with the right brushing technique removes all plaque and food debris from
mouth.that might get lodged in between or on teeth.
- Use a dental floss. A dental floss is a wax coated thread used for cleaning in between teeth (interdental area).It is this area where the cavity usually starts since the brush does not reach in this area.
- Use an anti plaque mouthwash. A mouthwash easily flows in areas where it is difficult to reach by a toothbrush.
- Limit the intake of sweet and sticky food. Sweet and sticky food like chocolates, toffees, cake etc adheres to the tooth firmly and the high sugar content of these food provide a favorable ground for bacterial growth and multiplication.
- Eat fruits and vegetables in raw, crude form. Fruits and vegetables through their fibrous content help to mechanically clean the teeth.
- Rinse after every meal to remove food particles sticking to the teeth.
- Visit your dentist regularly after every 6 months. Your brushing efficiency can be 99% not 100%. So some deposition of food particles occur on a regular basis. Once teeth are cleaned and polished every 6 months, these small depositions are removed while still they are small, and the health of teeth and gums are maintained on a long term basis.
