Evaluating Cost of Dental Crown in India

Dental crowns, commonly known as Dental caps are frequently used in a dental practice. They are used singly, in case of coverage of root canal treated tooth for protection or for restoring a broken or fractured tooth. Dental crowns help to replace a tooth form and structure. Multiple caps are joined together to form a Dental bridge which can be used to replace one or more missing tooth.

A wide variety of materials are now available for dental crown and bridge fabrication depending on the patient’s requirements and budget. Pure metal crowns are available which can be cast in non-precious metal, semi-precious material or precious metal(Gold alloy). These, no doubt, are the most durable of all but still not very popular due to the aesthetic problem. But some people still opt for Gold crowns as it is most tissue compatible and also for its ornamental value.

Pure ceramic crowns which are the most preferred today for their durability and aesthetics. These are high strength crowns which can be cast very thin and still maintain their strength. They are extremely useful in worn out teeth or very small teeth where very limited tooth structure can be reduced for making space for the crown.

Metal fused to porcelain crowns which offer the advantage of cosmetics together with a pocket-friendly budget. However, lately, these crowns are losing their popularity as they can chip or crack exposing the underlying metal which is not acceptable cosmetically.

However, not every crown can be used in every case. A dentist through his clinical judgment can best decide what material will be best. If you have missing teeth and planning to replace them, do contact us today.
